Environmental Innovation Prize 2018 – Call for proposals

Nominate your REALCYCLING & NEW SOURCES and business models for a new sustainable textile era for the Environmental Innovation Prize

Sustainability in the textile chain is real-world engagement. We only have one earth, so ground-breaking models for REALCYCLING and the use of NEW SOURCES to sustaining the textile industry have to be made visible to a broader audience.

Therefore, during the Sustainable Textile School, a sustainable innovation will be awarded the Environmental Innovation Prize 2018.

The focus of the assessment is set on practically and environmentally friendly subsequent utilization processes and groundbreaking recycling enabling to save resources and transferring to closed loops. Moreover, new sources and business models for producing high-quality and sustainable textile products having a long-life and usage are part of this year’s prize.

It is based on the following transparent valuation criteria of the textile environmental innovation:

The assessment was based on the following criteria of the textile environmental innovation:

  • ground-breaking materials (biodegradable, cradle-to-cradle, promising impact of LCA, etc.)
  • procedures (machines, processes, and equipment, innovative and sustainable combination of products, technologies, and chemicals)
  • life cycle and utilization cascades
  • by-products and rebound effects
  • systemic embedding
  • access (impact, outcome, collecting points, etc.)
  • fair conditions.

The Jury is a group of independent scientific researchers, currently belonging to the chairs Corporate Environmental Management and Sustainability as well as Textile Technologies, both Chemnitz University of Technology.

All applications will be treated as strictly confidential and only for the purpose of awarding innovative environmental ideas in the textile value chain.
